From the global point of view, the world food system will experience unprecedented pressures over the past decades. By 2050, an increase in the current world population is expected, which will grow from seven billion to more than nine billion. The population will tend to be richer, consequently, they will demand for more variety of food. At the same time, costumers will require better quality. This new demand will lead to additional resources for the production process. In 2012, the FAO determined that the persistence of this development trend will lead to an increase in global food production by 60% in 2050. These additional needs will have to be met through growth of production and responsable use of available resources.
COTPA aims to contribute to automation of processes, data processing in decision-making, introduction of KET technologies and circular economy in the agri-food sector to respond to future challenges.

SCOPE OF ACTION

COTPA's sphere of activity covers the AGRO sector, from livestock to intensive agricultural activities - including manufacturing activities. This sector is essential since it covers most of the activities developed along the supply chain and there are great evidence of its several problems. Along these lines, the approach to these difficulties ought to be appropiate, with a special focous on preserving the environment and achieving cohesion and territorial balance.
